Should I Replace the Bulb on the Wesbar Rectangular Low Profile Trailer Tail Light or Upgrade to LED
Question:
Old, hand-me-down flatbed trailer. Has rectangular lights attached by 4 screws with a plastic side panel looks like a Wesbar 403026. Drivers side not working. Only 2 wires connect to the light from the trailer. With brakes I see 12V, with lights on ~1.7V I pulled the 4 screws, bulb looks something like attached. Did not easily come out and I did not want to force it. Not sure its worth replacing the bulb or just go LED? Trailer is very rarely used. I can shoot pix if it helps

Expert Reply:
The Wesbar Low Profile Trailer Tail Light part # 403026 that you referenced uses an 1157 type bulb like part # A1157B. If you have power to light but still not illumination then the bulb is likely bad and needs to be replaced. If you instead want to upgrade to LED's then you can use the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights part # TLL160RK which will be great replacements for the Wesbar Low Profile Trailer Tail Light. The LED's when compared to incandescent lights will draw less power, last longer, and shine brighter so they are worth the switch.
