Troubleshooting Wiring of Tekonsha Primus IQ on 2006 Chevy Silverado with 7 way Already Installed
Question:
Hi I have a 06 Chevy Silverado that I am trying to install controller on , Ive installed the 40 amp fuse the red wire under hood was already connected but the blue wire is not and has a connector on it... My 7 way plug has a blue wire running from it at the back of truck So i dont understand why I have to runanother wire back to the 7 pin from the hood and if I do where do I connect it? Splice it in? There is a blue wire already there... Thanks for your advice I have only a week before the campground I am shuts down due to the virus and we get kicked out PS I have the tekonsha adapter for gm models as well

The first thing I would do here is trace the wire from your 7 way connector and see where it goes; it may have never been connected and the 7 way was only used to power a trailer's lights. If it is not connected to the under the hood fuse block, you will need to connect the blue wire there to the blue wire coming out of your 7 way connection by splicing into it or connecting the two loose ends. It could also be possible that someone ran the blue wire directly from the 7 way into the cab of the truck, through the firewall. This may have been done if the last brake controller was hard-wired. Regardless, there will need to a connection made from the 7 way connector on your vehicle to the blue wire out of the fuse block in order for you to use the # 3025-P when installing the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 on your 2006 Chevy Silverado.
I've also linked some troubleshooting articles with some photos and diagrams that you may find helpful when completing the installation.
