Can Reverse Light Circuit of Trailer 7-Way be Used to Power Additional Reverse Lights
Question:
I have a Dodge Ram 1500, i want to add a set of back up lights so i bought a pair of led lights a hitch mount. i would like to use the 7 wire trailer outlet to control the additional backup lights but i cannot figure out how to wire it. i know the center pin is for aux backup, i also know what each pin is for, but my lights only have + and -. Can i use the 7 wire outlet or do i have to wire the extra bkup lights to the standard backup lights on the truck? thank you

If the reverse light circuit of your 7-way is active you can use it to power the reverse lights you bought. It would be a matter of running the power wire of the light to the reverse light circuit of the 7-way and the negative to the ground circuit of it. If the circuit isn't active on your trailer wiring you'd then need to tap into the reverse lights of the truck.
For a quick splice connector you could use the # SWC502905-1 to make the connection to the circuits.
