Availability of Ford Tow/Prep Package Compatible Roller/Slider for Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

I have a Curt A16 hitch from my old truck it attached to the rails that ran side to side in the bed. My new 2020 F-250 is a short bed with the factory puck prep tow system. Do I have to purchase a whole new hitch, or is there some sort of adapter available? I really like my A16 and would like to continue using it if I can.

The good news is that you won't need an entire new hitch. You'd just need the Ford Tow Prep Package compatible slider unit, part # C16020 which would take the place of the legs on your current hitch. The first time you use the slider unit, you might need to adjust the pins that connect with the pucks a little bit, but once adjusted and locked into place, you should need to do that again.

If you don't already have a 7-way trailer connector installed in your truck bed, you can install one using # 50-97-410-010.

I've linked to some installation videos that you might find helpful.
