Recommended Triple Axle Setup for Tiny Home Trailer
Question:
Hello I have a few questions regarding ordering a triple axle kit for a custom trailer I am starting to build. I plan on building building a custom tiny house trailer from scratch and want to order the exact axles that will work. The trailer will be 9.5 feet wide so it will require wide load permit to move once completed. I want the trailer to have axles that have a total width of 8.5 feet with wheels and tires installed so I need to figure out exact hub face measurements to give me that width. Also I am planning on building it with wrap around frame rails that will be running the whole length of the trailer at 9.5 feet wide overhanging six inches on either side of axles and wondering if I will be able to remove tires with six inches of space between tires and inside of frame rail? Ive attached an example of trailer where frame rail goes the whole length of perimeter of trailer as an example of what I want to build but with triple axle instead of double. Also I need to figure out correct sping center for axles the the main inside frame rail that spring hangers will be welded to will be be 2 inch wide and spaced at 80 inches inside of frame rails and 84 inches out to out of frame rails so would that mean 82 inches would be correct spring centers? Thank you for your time and sorry for writing such a long message!

The best trailer axle option we have for your custom tiny home trailer build is going to be the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes part # 8327864-EB for 7,000 lbs. This axle is top of the line and comes with everything you need for bolt-on installation. It comes with electric brakes, 8 on 6-1/2" hubs, and zerk fittings on the axle for easy maintenance. The hub face to hub face measurement is 94" so once you have wheels and tires on you will be around 8-1/2' wide. I have attached some other parts below you will need as well to complete your setup.
Triple-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APTT5 (Hanger Spacing Listed On Page) Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # e34SR for 6,000 lbs or part # e64SR for 7,000 lbs U-Bolt Mounting Kit part # APUBR-9 Castle Rock ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" Silver Mod Wheel part # LHACK133.
