4 pole to 7 adapter 2008 Toyota Sienna
Question:
I installed the wiring as per instruction and hooked up camper and had no lights. Checked them out on another vehicle and they work fine. Do I need to connect the ground to the frame before the lights will work. Does the balck wire need to run to the battery if I dont require the brake function in order for the light to work?

The ground (white wire) definitely needs to be hooked up for your vehicle to power the lights on the trailer. You need to make sure the ground is mounted to a clean metal surface for a good connection. The black wire does not need to be hooked up if you do not have brakes or a battery to be charged while towing. Usually the extra black wire is for charging the trailer battery, the blue wire is for brakes and the heavy yellow wire is for auxilary power. You do not need to hook these wires up if your trailer does not require these functions.
