If your 2007 Mini Cooper Convertible is not a S model you can put a hitch on your vehicle like the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11126, and use a hitch bike rack like the Kuat Beta Aluminum 2 Bike Rack, part # B202-114. I am including a link to the installation instructions of the Curt hitch and a link to a video of the hitch being installed on a Mini Cooper Convertible.
You will need to use a hitch bike rack on a convertible since a trunk or roof bike rack is not available.
The Kuat Beta bike rack is a very lightweight bike rack (13 lbs) with a maximum weight capacity of 80 lbs for 2 bikes. Being made of aluminum will make it strong and lightweight which will make it easier to install on your hitch. The hitch is a Class I hitch so you will be limited to a maximum of 2 bikes on a Class I hitch.
The manufacturer (Curt) will also require you to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap, part # 18050, on a Class I hitch that will be carrying any non-trailer load like a hitch bike rack. CURT requires the use of a stabilization strap to be in compliance with their warranty requirements. The idea is that the strap will help support a non-trailer load (such as a bike rack) to reduce some of the stress on a Class I hitch.
Also, you need to stay within the weight limits of the hitch. At max, the tongue weight on a Class I hitch for your vehicle is 200 pounds. You will have to add in the weight of the rack (13 lbs), the bikes, and any other accessories that add weight on the hitch.
