Best Options for Charging Trailer Battery with Tow Vehicle
Question:
Jameson, Thank you for the response. What prevents the trailer battery from becoming “over charged” by the tow vehicle? Wouldn’t I need some sort of charge controller?

To put a maintenance charge on the battery of your trailer you'd just need to connect the circuit in the 1:00 pin of your 7-way to the trailer battery's positive post with 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot. If you were wanting put a more substantial charge on it you'd need something with a heavier gauge wire so that the more amperage could transfer to it.
On the trailer side you'd want the 7-1/2 foot long wiring kit part # BDW20347 which uses 1 gauge wire and then on the vehicle side the # BDW20348 which is 24 feet and would run all the way up to the vehicle battery.
