Yakima Ridgeback Speedknob Replacement

Question:

Im unable to get my speedknob to tighten. Ive tried locking and unlocking. It will not turn when locked. It spins freely without tightening when unlocked. I guess Im doing something incorrectly but thought the speedknob may also be broken. How would I not if its me or the knob? Thank you!!!

By design the Speedknob on your Yakima Ridgeback part # Y02458 should spin freely when it is in the locked position this prevents anyone from being able to remove your rack from the vehicle. When unlocked it is supposed to have friction that allows you to tighten the rack up to the vehicle then re lock it so it again spins freely once again. With what you are describing I say it has gone bad on you since it will not turn when locked and spins freely when unlocked the exact opposite of what's expected.

Not to worry though there is still plenty of life left in that Ridgeback simply get the Replacement SpeedKnob and Wedge Assembly for Yakima Bike Racks part # 8880508 this is an exact replacement and will have you back out there on your bike before you know it. I've included a lin and video on it below showing the exact replacement process for the Ridgeback rack.
