Trailer Brake Controller not Applying Brakes With Manual Override.
Question:
My trailer brakes work when I apply the brake pedal and when I pull the safety pin on the trailer but they wont work when I squeeze the brake controller. I have a 2016 ram 3500. I can adjust the gain on the brake controller it just doesnt apply brakes when I squeeze the brake controller

It sounds like the brake controller's manual override lever has gone bad. I would replace it with the Tekonsha BRAKE-EVN # TK63VR and connect it using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Ram part # 3024-P. This will get you back to having a full function controller and will require no modifications to your vehicle's factory wiring.
