Weight of 5th Wheel Hitches for 2020 Ram 2500 Long Bed with Factory Puck System

Question:

How heavy are the 5th wheel hitches that fit my truck with no adapter? I've got a Ram 2500 long bed with the pucks. 2020

Right now we carry two hitches that fit into your 2020 Ram 2500's factory prep package; the Reese M5 # RP30918, and the Demco Recon # DM8550045-5W.

The Recon is the lighter one at under 150 pounds. It's different though because it doesn't mount to the pucks it installs over the gooseneck ball. So you'll need a ball as well like # RP19311.

The Reese M5 weighs about 180 pounds or so.

Of the two, I prefer the Recon because of its weight. Not only is it lighter but it's also easy to remove it from your truck in two pieces.

Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs Item # RP30918. Says it for an 8 foot bed. I have a Mega Cab with a 6 ft. 4 inch bed with factory prep. Will it fit or is there another P/N????

Yes, the Reese M5 # RP30918 will fit your Ram truck with the OEM puck package whether you have the long or short bed (as long as it's a newer pickup). We list it as a fit for a long bed because with beds shorter than 8' there is always the potential that the 5th wheel trailer could make contract with the truck cab when taking tight turns. We have heard of people successfully using a stationary hitch with a short bed but their turning clearance is usually limited so you just need to be mindful of that.
