Base Plates for 2018 Chevy Equinox for use With Roadmaster Stowmaster 5000 Tow Bar
Question:
Will an older Stowmaster 5000 fit a Newer base 523193-5 on a 2018 Chevy Equinox with the twist lock drawbars. Is there more parts needed to adapt to fit the base.

You can use your Roadmaster Stowmaster 5000 tow bar with your 2018 Chevy Equinox, but it is not compatible with the Roadmaster EZ5 Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5; the Stowmaster requires a crossbar-style base plate, the Roadmaster EZ4 Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-4. If you already have the EZ5 base plates on your 2018 Equinox you'll need a different tow bar, with the most cost-efficient being the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520.
To round out your flat towing set up with your 2018 Chevy Equinox you'll need the following parts:
- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 (Premier Models Only)
OR
Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit w/ 7-Way to 6-Wire Connector - LED Bulb and Socket # RM-152-LED-7 (Non-Premier Models)
- Supplemental Braking System: Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- If your motorhome has air brakes: Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes # SM99243
You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep your 2018 Chevy Equinox level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters. Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
