Will Reese Friction Sway Control Prevent Wind Induced Sway

Question:

We bought a 6x12 tandem axle enclosed trailer and had to drive it across the state empty. With winds and just in general it swayed quite a bit. Would this adapter plate and sway bar really work that well? Once we had it loaded down the swaying almost completely went away. Do we need to just keep weight on the tongue all the time?

Expert Reply:

Adding tongue weight to your trailer will be the best way to prevent sway like you mentioned. That said, if you don't have a way to keep weight in the front of the trailer friction sway control like part # 83660 would do an excellent job preventing sway from winds as that's exactly what it was designed to do.

I attached a review video for this kit for you to check out as well.
