We offer the parts needed to install a 4-pole trailer connector for a trailer that needs power for only lighting functions or a 7-way for trailers that also have electric brakes.
For the 4-pole there are two possible scenarios, one for Highlander models with the tow package, and one for vehicles without. If your Highlander already has the tow package, use # 56042 which would plug into the connector under the threshold in the rear cargo area as shown in the video I'll link for you. If you don't have the tow package, use # 118449. If you're unsure whether or not your Highlander has the tow package, if you provide your VIN to your dealer, they'll be able to quickly determine that for you.
If you need a 7-way, use # 22119. You'll also need a brake controller. I'd recommend the Tekonsha P3, part # 90195. The P3 is one of the most user-friendly controllers available. It features easy to use controls and an intuitive display that will keep you apprised of the condition of the braking system at a glance. Once set up according to the linked instructions, the P3 will provide smooth, safe and predictable braking.
I've also linked to installation instructions.
