Recommended Hitch, Wiring and Ball Mount For 1997 Ford Aerostar
Question:
I have a 1997 Ford Aerostar and was hoping to pull a small trailer. Do you have a hitch I can use?

I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13032 which is a custom fit hitch for the 1997 Ford Aerostar. This will give you a 4,000 lb towing capacity. I do recommend to take a look at your owner's manual to make sure you are not exceeding the weight rating of the Ford.
You will also need wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118344. This wiring will plug in behind the tail lights of the van.
If you plan on doing some towing you may consider the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. If you are not sure how much rise/drop you may need in a ball mount to tow your trailer level, I recommend to take a look at the helpful article I have attached about how to figure the amount of rise or drop you may need.
