Prodigy Brake Controller Installation Trouble on a 2003 Chevy 2500 with Factory Trailer Wiring
Question:
I installed a 90885 on my 2003 2500 with the provided wiring harness. After install I drove the truck about 2 miles and shut the truck off. When I started the truck back up a warning alarm sounded and the instrument panel read that the break system needed to be service immediately, and the ABS light and park break light, even though it was disengaged, stayed on. As soon as I unplugged the 90885 everything went back to normal. Any idea what the problem might be?

It sounds like you might have installed the incorrect brake controller wiring harness on your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.
There are two different harnesses, that will plug in to the port under the dash, but one, # 3015-P is designed for your truck and the other, # 3025-P is designed for 1999 to 2002 GM trucks. If you installed the wrong harness, or the harness you got was pinned wrong, this could explain the problem. I attached a photo of both harnesses for you to determine if you have the correct one for your truck.
I also attached a photo showing the clip that needs to be pressed to release the wire to re-pin the connector you have to the correct position for your truck. You will only need to move one pin, the red one, from its location above the black wire and next to the white wire, to the location two spots below the white wire and next to the blue wire, to re-pin the harness correctly for your model year truck.
If this does not solve your issue, you may have a short in the trailer wiring connectors or elsewhere on the trucks wiring, let me know what you come up with and we will figure it out.
