7-Way Upgrade Kit for Trailer and 2013 Dodge Durango to Install Brake Controller
Question:
Hi every one, I have a Dodge Durango 2013 awd, without harness for electric brake system. I also have a trailer with old hydraulic drum brake system. I want to install this one “Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10inch - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs - AKEBRK-35-SA” with its respective brake controller, but, the trailer and the car have already its electrical conection “friend of a friend- made”. As I said previously, my durango has no electrical controller harness for plug and play conector, and I really dont wanna do again the whole 7 pin electric install for the trailer and the brake controller. So please let me know what do I need to buy, for conect the electric brake controller, to the brakes in the trailer. thanks a Lot.

I am a little confused as it sounds like you are wanting the parts to install a brake controller in your 2013 Dodge Durango but then you said you don't want to install a 7-way and brake controller. I am assuming you are wanting a way to integrate brake controller wiring to the style of trailer connector present on your tow vehicle currently? But without knowing what type of connector that is, and also knowing that the 7-way style of connector is the standard for use with brake controllers the best solution I'd have is the 7-way upgrade kit part # HS381-9000 for the trailer so you can add the wiring and 7-way and then for the 2013 Dodge Durango you'd need to start with the 4-way # C56133 and then convert it to a 7-way with # ETBC7 which comes with all brake controller wiring needed as well.
