What Causes Hitch Accessories to Bounce or Move at Rear of Vehicle When Travelling

I still would like to know the length of the receive tube.

The shanks of the Curt hitch # C13394 that you mentioned is totally fixed and would not flex or cause movement/bounce. It essentially will be as rigid as your vehicle frame since it is so well reinforced. The length of the hitch tube would have really no bearing on movement of hitch accessories, but we do have ways to greatly reduce this type of movement with anti-rattle devices such as the # 63232 which install in the hollow shank of a hitch accessory and hold it tight against the hitch tube. This also doubles as a lock too. The real reason you see some racks or carriers bouncing in hitch tubes is due to play between the shank of the accessory and the hitch tube which allows the movement. This is what anti-rattle devices fix.

The Curt hitch # C13394 is 4 inches and the Draw Tite # DT84MR is 6 inches long.
