Remove and Reinstall Rhino-Rack and Thule Crossbars on a 2014 Ford Edge

Question:

Just to clarify so with the feet and clamp setup on the Ford Edge for either the Rhino-rack or the Thule Wingbars, it would add between 5 to 5 1/4” height to my Edge rooftop.... that 5 to 5 1/4” includes the feet and clamp? If my wife wanted me to remove the Wingbars or Rhino-rack so she can enjoy the panoramic vista roof, are either crossbars quick and easy to remove or install. If so which rack is the simplest to quickly install or remove?

Yes, the Rhino-Rack Aero Bars, part # RRVA137B-2, will add around 5-1/4" to the height of your 2014 Ford Edge. That height does include the feet and clamp. The Thule Wingbars, part # TH711420, will be about the same.

Both of these sets feature easy-installation components. After your initial setup, you would only need to remove the locking covers on the foot pads and loosen the bolt used to tighten the clamps. Then, you just pick them up off of the roof and store them away.

To reinstall them, just measure the recommended distance between the crossbars like you did for the initial installation, and place them on the roof. Tighten the bolt for the clamps again, and you're good to go.
