Diversi Tech Adjustable Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2006 Ford Van
Question:
I have a 2006 Ford E-250 Extended, with a claimed towing capacity of 7,300 lbs. The installation video for this hitch shows a dimension of 5-1/2inch from the center of the pin to clearing the rear of the bumper. Since I plan on towing trailers other than my own, Im planning on buying an adjustable ball mount. I like the Diversi-Tech self-locking models but they appear to only be available in one shank length. Will this ball mount be able to clear the bumper when used inverted as a rise? If not, which adjustable ball mounts will work in both orientations with this vehicle and hitch? If a longer shank is required, how does this affect the towing capacity?

The most popular ball mount for the Curt Hitch # 14055 is the B&W Ball Mount # BWBMHD30010 which has a distance of 8-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. While the Diversi-Tech Adjustable Ball Mount # DTSTBM6400 has the same distance of 8-1/2 inches. Based on that you should have no problem using a # DTSTBM6400.
