Recommended Hitch and Wiring For 2017 Kia Sorento SXL
Question:
Is there any way to determine if I have a Factory tow package on my car? I bought it used and want to be able to tow a 3500lb travel trailer. I stupidly never asked the dealer for this info. I have a 2017 Kia Sorento SXL with 3.3 engine...AWD VIN *XYPKDA**HG******. Havent purchased a hitch yet and need to know what to buy. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Since I am not able to search by VIN numbers the easiest way to determine if your vehicle has a tow package is to take the VIN number to a dealership and they will be able to tell you. To tow the trailer, you will need a hitch, wiring, ball mount and ball.
I recommend to use the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75908. I have attached an installation video for your reference. For the wiring, you will need Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56332 if you have the factory tow package. If you do not, I recommend Tekonsha T-one wiring part # 118583.
Since you plan on towing and do not know the rise/drop you may need in a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. If you are not sure how much rise/drop you may need in a ball mount to tow your trailer level, I recommend to take a look at the helpful article I have attached about how to figure the amount of rise or drop you may need.
I also recommend to take a look at the owner's manual to see how much weight you can tow with the Sorento.
