Comparing B&W Companion 20K and 25K 5th Wheel Hitches for 2020 F-450 with OEM Puck System

Question:

I have a 2020 Ford F-450 8 ft bed and it has the prep package. I was looking at 5th wheel hitches, what is the difference between the two B&W 20K and 25K hitches? My current 5th wheel is about 18k loaded but I may want to pull a bigger trailer in the future. Is there a big advantage or disadvantage to getting the heavier rated one?

That's a really good question. The B&W Companion 20K # BWRVK3300 or B&W Companion 25K # BWRVK3305 are great choices your 2020 Ford F-450 with 8 foot bed and factory puck system. The 20K will be enough to tow you current 18K trailer with out any problems, however if you are wanting to tow a bigger trailer I would recommend the 25K. The advantage to having a hitch rated higher than your trailer is the peace of mind knowing that it can handle the load and have the option to pull something heavier.

The 25K does weigh slightly more than the 20K but the head removes easily on each of them to make the assembly lighter and easier to handle.

If you need in bed wiring I recommend Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness for Aluminum Truck Bed # 50-97-410-010. It's very simple to install, and gives you a working 7 way in the bed of your truck.

I linked the parts, and a video of the 25K B&W Companion and wiring being installed on a similar truck for you to check out.
