Does Reese M5 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ram 3500 Need Pivot Assemblies to be Greased

Question:

Kyle, In the video I watched showing the Revolution wedge being activated, it shows lithium spray being applied to the sides of the wedge and the back side of the pin. If this is correct, how often should I spray those areas? With every trip? Also, does the Revolution pivot point need any maintenance, lubricated? My 5th wheel is a 2018 model and the Revolution pin box has been locked out up to now. I now own a short bed truck and would like to use the Revolution feature. Thanks .

Thanks for the purchase of the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # RP30918, and the pivot assemblies do not need to be greased before your first trip. What you can do is grease them before the start of each season, and you'll be set.

To do so you can use LubriMatic Multi-Purpose Lithium Grease # L11315 with LubriMatic Professional Pistol Grease Gun # L30416 and attach a grease needle to it, which is available at local automotive stores.

In regards to if it will work with your Revolution pin box, yes it definitely will. The Revolution and M5 have different capacities, but each is more than enough for a 10,500 lb loaded trailer.

For a Reese Revolution, which is the OEM version of a Sidewinder like the Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP34FR, you will apply grease to the wedge surfaces, around the king pin and skid pate surface before each time hooking up your trailer. This will help the ease the connection process. The pivot point does not need to be lubricated. I have added a link to a help article for you on proper lubrication of a Sidewinder that I recommend checking out.
