How To Charge RV Battery With Tow Vehicle While Traveling
Question:
Our current wiring set up does not charge our RV battery when plugged into the trailer lights for towing. Our battery charges only when going down the road. Therefore, we were told we need to fix the wire that charges this on our Ford F-150. It is a 2014 Larait 2 wheel drive.

The 12V power that runs from the tow vehicle to your RV simply provides a maintenance charge which keeps your battery from depleting, but will not charge it. If you run 10 gauge wire from 12 volt accessory circuit on your 7-way connector (1:00 position per diagram) to the positive power post of the battery in the trailer, it will get that maintenance charge when towing. We offer 10 gauge wire by the foot as part # 10-1-1.
