Weight
Question:
I’m considering a product like this but I have a few questions before I’m ready to make a purchase. First and foremost, I have an enclosed v-nose, will I be able to mount a product like this? Second, my trailer is rated for 7,000 but it looks like I’m running around 820 pounds for a tongue weight, should I bump up to a 10,000 pound set up? Lastly, with a standard ball mount, my trailer sits level with a 4” drop. It looks like I will need a longer shank to accommodate this with this head. Do you have a shank that’s compatible that I can achieve this amount of drop?

Thank you for all of the info on your trailer setup! Yes you can install a weight distribution system similar to the Curt TruTrack part # C17499 on a V-nose trailer like yours but the trick is to use a system that has chains on the spring bars so you can use a set of bolt on hangers like the part # C17005. The bolt on hangers can fit under the V-nose of the trailer unlike ones that require clearance above the frame.
So since you are running 820 lbs tongue weight you will want a system with a higher and wider range. The best way to pick out a system is to go with one that has a tongue weight range that the tongue weight of your trailer falls right into the middle of. Keep in mind that tongue weight also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
For a system you'd most likely want the part # 17302 which has a tongue weight range of 800-1,000 lbs which would most likely be right what you'd need and would work great with the bolt on hangers.
For a shank to use with this system that has ability to do the 4 inches of drop you need you'd also want the part # C17123.
