Can Older Thule Flat Top Ski Carrier 91725 Be Adapted for Use with SpeedLink Mounting Hardware

Question:

I have the older Thule 91725 ski rack. If I drill out the rivets, can I use Speedlink Replacement Part # 7521241001. Thanks Mike

You may be able to use the Thule SpeedLink Mounting Hardware Assembly # 7521241001 by modifying your older generation Thule Ski Carrier 91725. However, I cannot recommend you drill the rivets out as not only will this automatically void your warranty on the carrier, but from a safety standpoint, there are too many things that could potentially go wrong and risk damaging/losing your gear or injury to other drivers.

If your original mounting hardware is damaged or shows signs of considerable wear and tear, I recommend replacing it with the following parts, as necessary:

Replacement Bottom Mounting Clamp # 753-2854
Replacement Tamperproof Screw # 853-5269
Replacement Tamperproof Wrench # 853-5270-02

Since the Top Mounting Clamps are riveted in, they are not replaceable. If you prefer to simply go with a whole new carrier, I recommend one the following budget-friendly options:

Rhino-Rack Ski and Snowboard Carrier - Locking - 4 Skis or 2 Boards # RR574
Rhino-Rack Ski and Snowboard Carrier - Locking - 6 Skis or 4 Boards # RR576

Check out the video I've attached to learn more about the features of the Rhino-Rack Ski Carrier.
