To connect the Thinline LED Trailer Tail Light # STL59RB to your 2017 Kia Sportage's trailer wiring is fairly simple. It sounds like you are going to be mounting the light to a cargo carrier, or other hitch mounted accessory and would like to disconnect it easily when you're not using it.

The Hopkins Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM38138 can be wired directly into the light and then plugged into your 4 pole connector. The 4 pole connector is the trailer side, so it will plug into your Kia's trailer wiring. The Harness is 4' long, and can be trimmed if you don't need that much.

The wires on the Thinline Led are the following functions should be wired to the trailer connector in the following manner:
Thinline (ground) white wire - 4 pole (ground) white wire
Thinline black (taillight) wire - 4 pole (taillight) brown wire
Thinline (turn and brake signals) red wire - 4 pole (turn and brake signals) yellow and green wires

To make the connections from the light to the 4 pole I recommend using Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector # DW05744-5.

One thing to keep in mind is the brake light will blink with the turn signals if it's wired this way. To prevent the blinking you can wire in Pacer Performance 3rd Brake Light Logic Module # PP20-702. I attached a photo so you can see how the logic module wires in.

I linked the parts above as well as our selection of trailer wiring plug and leads in case you need more length.
