Bike Rack Options For 2006 Toyota Sienna
Question:
How can I safely mount a bike carrier at the rear of my Toyota Sienna Ltd. It seems to me that there is a gas tank under the car at the rear? I just want a simple 2 bike rack rear mount, not the top- can you help me pick the right one out - thank you

Using a quality trunk-mounted bike rack like the Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms Item # Y02634 would be a cost-effective way of transporting two bikes without the expense of installing a hitch on your Sienna. This 2-bike trunk rack features a 4-strap mounting system and interlocking HUB for quick setup on your Honda Civic. The adjustable arms have SuperCush anti-sway cradles with ZipStrip straps for easy bike loading. Integrated locks secure bikes and rack.
If you would prefer a hitch mounted bike rack, hitches are available for your Sienna. The Curt Class III receiver, part # C13105 is our best selling receiver for a 2006 Sienna. The Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360 is a good, low-priced bike rack that still has what I consider essential features like anti-sway cradles and an anti-rattle hitch pin. This would be a more expensive option, but having the receiver would provide some future flexibility for towing or other hitch mounted accessories like a cargo carrier.
For womens bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # 64005 is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike has greater ground clearance and is not carried at an angle.
