Does the Optronics LED Off-Road Light Bar Need a Relay

Why do you use a relay vs just running the leads to the positive and negative? Thanks for your time.

In regards to the Optronics LED Off-Road Light Bar part # UCL21CB, you can choose to install the light bar with just a standard toggle switch or with a relay and standard toggle switch. The inclusion of a relay allows a low-current circuit (battery) to better control the electricity flow of a high-current circuit (light bar). The Optronics LED Off-Road Light Bar only draws 4 amps at full power so a relay is not really required, you would just need a switch with circuit protection rated for this. On the other hand, if you were using a larger light bar which drew more amps then that is when you would really want to consider using a relay and standard toggle switch but it could be use with the above as well if you like.
