B&W Gooseneck for 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
Question:
Because puck system on 2020 Silverado was moved, I see you are suggesting using the BWRVK3775. Doing research on this hitch I find that A the king pin of the trailer will be aft of the rear axle causing the raising of the front end and B you will have to open the tailgate to use the slider or it will run into tailgate if not opened. If so, are these issues being addressed? I would think the raising of the front end would compromise traction and stability

I reached out to my contact over at B&W and got some answers for you. They confirmed that the king pin will sit behind the rear axle just based on how Chevy set up the system in the bed. When using the fixed model part # BWRVK3710 it will be 1.5"-3" behind depending on how you set the pivot arms and on the slider model part # BWRVK3775 it will sit 2"-4" behind it again depending on how you set the pivot arms.
This will not have a huge effect on the handling, braking or stability but I do understand your concern. This can be corrected if you choose to by adding a set of air bags to the rear of your Silverado to level it back out returning it to factory ride height. For this I recommend Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs part # AL57541. These are a custom fit for your vehicle and allow you to add air independently to both sides of your vehicles suspension and not only level the truck back out but take a lot of the stress and strain off of your rear suspension saving wear and tear. A compressor kit can be helpful in filling those up if you don't want to rely on a gas station or finding air somewhere else. I recommend using Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs part # AL72000 if you decide you want one.
As for the interference with the tailgate it can occur depending on your pin box. I confirmed with them that you can use either the fixed or slider version on the short bed as long as you check a couple of measurements.
The first is the measurement from the center of your kingpin on your camper to the outer most edge of your camper.
The second measurement is from 2" behind your factory gooseneck hole to the back corner of the cab of your Silverado. With those measurements if the kingpin to camper corner is larger than the gooseneck to cab corner you will need to use the slider if it is shorter you can use the fixed position head. Again, I did confirm that depending on your pin box it may come in contact with the tailgate of your truck so using the slider would require you to be very careful when maneuvering to avoid any potential damage. Thanks for the question and Happy hauling!!!

Randy B. Thanks for info. Can you please clarify part of your answer. My question: on the second measurement, do you measure the 2” from the center of the gooseneck hole or the front or back edge of the gooseneck hole? Thanks for the help.
