Upgraded Trailer Hitch for a 2013 Ford F-150 To Increase Tongue Weight Capacity

Question:

I have a 2013 ford f150 max tow weight 9600 lbs. I bought a travel trailer with 8376 dry weight and 1185 tongue weight. I purchased a weight distribution system that has 14000 tow weight and 1400 tongue weight. I also purchased a curt hitch #14002 to replace my class 3 hitch. The new curt hitch has a 1000 lbs tongue weight and 10,000 lbs tow weight but its says when used with weight distribution the tongue weight goes to 1200 lbs and the tow weight to 12000 lbs. Again my tongue weight on my travel trailer without me storing items up front is 1185 lbs. Do I need to get a higher class hitch. If so I seem to be having a hard time finding one for my truck. Tow capacity on my truck is 9600 lbs.

I do have an option for you but the factory trailer hitch on a 2013 Ford F-150 cannot be replaced because it is tied into the rear bumper. Therefore, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C14002 which is for models without the factory trailer hitch will not work for you. However, we do have one option that will install under the factory trailer hitch which is your only option because the factory trailer hitch again cannot be removed. The TorkLift SuperHitch Hero Trailer Hitch Receiver part # TLF1005H fits the above criteria so this is what I must recommend and it is rated for up to 15,000 lbs GTW and 1,500 TW which will exceed your vehicle/trailer.

Please note, the TorkLift SuperHitch Hero Trailer Hitch Receiver is a bolt on option so no drilling is required which makes for an easy install.
