If you need to add a 7-Way connector to your 2007 Nissan Pathfinder just to power the trailer's basic signal lights (the trailer isn't equipped with electric brakes) then the easiest solution is with a 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter like the Hopkins # 37185. This will plug right into the Pathfinder's existing 4-Way to provide a 7-Way at the other end for hookup with the trailer. The white wire will need to be secured to a clean bare metal surface for ground but the additional blue, black, and purple wires can just be capped off as they aren't needed.
Now if your trailer has electric brakes you will need to take a different route, as additional functions will need to be activated on the 7-Way to power them. You will also need to add a brake controller to the vehicle.
If this is the case my recommendation is to use the Wiring Kit # ETBC7L (this is instead of the adapter mentioned above) along with the Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. The Wiring Kit includes everything needed to install the needed 7-Way as well as the additional wiring required to activate the 12V circuit on the connector.
The Curt Echo will then plug right into the new 7-Way and pair to your smart phone via Bluetooth. This eliminates the need to mount a separate unit inside the Pathfinder's cab like with most other traditional controllers and makes it easily transferable to other vehicles as well. The Echo will automatically power the trailer's brakes in proportion to the vehicle's deceleration, but you can adjust any settings or activate the manual override with your phone.
I have attached a few video demonstrations on these products that you can check out as well.
