Voltage On Tekonsha Primus IQ Increases With Acceleration
Question:
Hello I have an primus IQ, I purchased it in 2015 it has been very good, I have changed cars to a holden trailblazer. My trouble is the brake voltage increases when I accelerate From about 1.5v to 2.5 and when a coast the voltage is 0 . When I brake it works well 1v to about 4v but it lags I stop braking and the voltage stays for a few seconds. Any advice would be good With thanks

The issues you are having with the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 could be attributed to faulty wiring, incorrect mounting, or a bad inertia sensor. If the issue just occurred when switching tow vehicles then that would point to signs of either faulty wiring or incorrect mounting. The brake controller wires will be red for stop light, white for ground, black for power, and blue for brake output. The brake controller will need to be mounted between 0 degrees and 90 degrees in the vertical plane.
If the issue was not present directly after switching tow vehicles then I would be willing to bet the inertia sensor is bad therefore the brake controller must be replaced as this issue is not repairable.
