Locating Cold Side of Stop Light Switch on 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Question:

Is there two cold wires coming from the brake light switch ie one going directly to the 3rd brake light and one going to the emergency flasher relay for L and R brake lights?

On your 2013 Chevy Equinox there is only one cold stop light switch wire going to the body control module (BCM). From there, it goes to both the center high mounted stop light (CHMSL) and the tail lights.

From what I found, the wire you are looking for is typically a yellow wire above the brake pedal, so I would start by testing that wire with a circuit tester like # PTW2979. It should only be hot when the brake pedal is applied. This is connected to the red wire on a brake controller, like the Curt TriFlex # C51140 with # C51515 universal adapter you were checking out.
