Will The Hopkins HM50002 Tee In To The Factory Connector On A 2003 Lexus LX470

Question:

2003 Lexus LX470 factory 7 blade trailer harness Will this T in, the factory plug . The factory plug does not seem to come apart. I tried removing the round safety piece, and then push the locking tab does not seem to budge. Any ideas I have the unit here and would rather use the T in option.

While the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 is designed to be a universal installation on many different vehicles, the T generally does work better with 2010 and newer truck models I confirmed with Hopkins directly. The instructions do provide an alternate installation procedure I included below. That will be better solution for your situation.

"For Vehicles WITHOUT OEM connector
1) Cut/Remove OEM plug (H)
2) Connect installation cable (D) to monitor (A) and route the wires to the reverse light assembly (Fig. 3).
NOTE: If additional length is needed call 800 835-0129.
3) Locate the reverse light wire and splice the red wire to the reverse light wire. (Fig 4)
4) Locate the common/ground wire behind the tail light assembly and splice the black wire to the ground wire.
5) Reassemble tail light assembly and secure wires out of the way. Place cable clips (E) where needed."
