How to Determine Correct Replacement Slipper Springs for Triple Axle Trailer With 8,000 lb Axles

Question:

Hello I have a 2016 Kaufman ez4 triple axle trailer. I want to replace the leaf springs, and install a new hanger kit with all new hardware. The axles are Lippert 80-B. Kaufman doesn’t have these replacement parts posted on their site. Are you able to provide me the correct slipper spring, axle u bolt kit, and hanger kit? Also is there a upgraded hanger kit available ? Thanks I hope you can help

I can help you determine exactly what you need to replace the suspension in your triple axle trailer, although we don't have any type of database which has each part for each year, make and model of trailer that would tell us exactly what you have on your trailer, which means you'll need to do a bit of pretty simple measuring.

Since you have a triple axle trailer, with three 8,000 lb axles you will need slipper springs for that axle capacity, for which we have two of that capacity. To get the correct size you'll need to measure the springs from the center of the eye to the slipper end like "A" in the accompanying diagram, as well as the length of the spring.

If your springs are 2" wide and 26-5/8" long you can use Slipper Spring with Hook End for 8,000-lb Trailer Axles # e37SR; if your springs are 2" wide and 29-1/2" long you can use 6-Leaf Slipper Spring with Hook End for 8,000-lb Trailer Axles # e39SR.

In regards to U-bolts the correct kit is the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 8,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles - 8" Long U-Bolts # APUBR-35. There aren't upgrade kits for hangers, and while there are some for equalizers, they are for double-eye springs. In order to get the correct equalizer and hanger kit, you will need to know the length of your equalizers: Triple-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2" Slipper Springs - 10-1/8" Long Equalizers # AP302-H302, 12" Long Equalizers # APTT6SE, 13-1/8" Long Equalizers # AP316-H302.

I have added links to video reviews as well as a link to a help article on slipper spring trailer suspension which I strongly recommend checking out.
