Will the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs Level a Heavy Load on a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
Question:
Hi, Im looking at the F4170 for my Hyundai Santa Fe. I want to pull a 3,000 pound trailer with a hitch weight of 280 pounds. That hitch weight makes the rear sag. No hitches for the Santa Fe are speced for load leveling hitches - therefore looking at F4170. The specs of the F4170 say = Load-leveling capacity at least 500 lbs at most 1,000 lbs. What does this actually mean? How will it help me with my towing configuration? I assume this means it will compensate for 500 pounds of hitch weight. Is this correct? Thanks

You are correct, the trailer hitches for your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe do not allow for the use of a weight distribution system, so the best option for you will be the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs, # F4170, as long as you do not exceed the lowest rated capacity of either your vehicle or trailer hitch.
These air springs will help level your vehicle when towing a 3,000 lb trailer with a 280 lb tongue weight. These air springs will fit inside of your existing coil springs and are manually adjustable using a compressor like the Firestone Level Command II, # F2158, or air from another source.
The load leveling capacity is a rating that the manufacturer recommends you do not exceed, however, these air springs will not increase the towing capacity of your vehicle or trailer hitch and your towing capacity is limited to the lowest rated item. If the dry weight of your trailer is 3,000 lbs, then you will most likely exceed the gross trailer weight and tongue weight rating of your trailer hitch. Be sure you verify the weight and tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer before towing.
I have attached installation instructions for the air springs and the compressor kit for you to check out.
