Why Is A Stabilization Strap Required To use A Bike Rack In A Curt Trailer Hitch On 2019 Honda CR-V

do i need a stabilization strap for curt Class II trailer hitch on 2019 Honda CR-V carrying a bike rack i bought at a garage sale for 10 dollars. Ive read some answers that make me think I need one.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12169 for the 2019 Honda CR-V does not require a stabilization strap part # 18050. Curt used to require the stabilization strap when using a bike rack or accessory in their Class I hitches. However, they have since said the stabilization strap is not required when carrying an accessory on their Class I hitches.

The Curt hitch C12169 will give you a 1-1/4" receiver tube on the Honda CR-V to carry your bike rack so it's a good idea to make sure the bike rack is compatible. The bike rack would need to have a 1-1/4" shank.

If it turns out the bike rack has a 2" shank, I recommend to use etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98848 which will give you a 2" receiver opening. I have attached an installation video for that as well.
