Best Weight Distribution Hitch for Double Towing Travel Trailer with 750lb Tongue Weight and Boat
Question:
I just purchase a TT that has a TW of 575. So I was looking at the Equal-i-zer WD w/4 pt sway control in the 10,000 GTW/1000 TW version. I expect my loaded Tw to be around 700-750. However, on occasion I plan to pull my fishing boat along for some short trips no more than 100 miles from home base. I dont have the specs on it but thinking TW arounde 350 and total weight around 2000. I know this will have an impact on the TT TW and I am concerned the 1000# bars will be too stiff and cause excessive bounce. Should I also purchase some lighter bars for this and if so will the hitch still maintain its 10000 GTW rating with the lighter bars installed

I've got some good news- your TT tongue weight isn't going to change much with a boat being bumper pulled behind it; it will go down slightly but we don't know how much until you weigh the TW with the 2 trailers connected. If I had to put a number on it, I would guess it's about 100-lbs less, but without knowing the lengths and axle positions of both trailers I can't tell you with any certainty. In order to find out what the TW of the double towing setup will be, you'll want to connect everything up and weigh it with a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044.
The Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET system you mentioned is a great choice for towing your travel trailer and for your double towing needs. This system has a TW range of 400 to 1000-lbs and a GTW of 10,000-lbs, so the 750-lb TW of your travel trailer as well as your TW when double towing should be well within the range of this weight distribution hitch. I particularly like that this system has a 4 point sway control system with brackets that hold the spring bars in place for a rigid system that will keep your travel trailer in line and help prevent sway before it starts.
I've attached a brief video for you that shows more about how the Equal-i-zer weigh distribution system works.
