Determining If 2016 Toyota Highlander has Tow Package for Picking Out Trailer Wiring

Question:

How can i determine if my 2016 Highlander has the factory tow package? I was told it was installed on all 2016 Highlanders, but I would like to know for sure before ordering. Thanks

If you contact a Toyota dealer and give them your VIN they'll be able to tell you for sure if you have the tow package or not. Sounds like you are trying to determine this so that you can pick out the correct trailer wiring harness. The Curt # 56042 is all you need if you do have the trailer towing package and the # C56217 would be what you need if you do not have it. Basically the # C56217 comes with the # 56042 and a converter box harness that wouldn't be present under the dash if you didn't have the tow package. So if you needed to order something ASAP the # C56217 would be what you'd need, but it just might come with extra parts you wouldn't need.
