Cargo Carrier for Draw Tite Hitch that Fits 2016 Subaru Outback

Question:

I need a cargo carrier on the Outback about 2 - 3 times per year. Dont want a hitch that protrudes to the edge of the rear bumper, it should at least be slightly recessed by 1 - 2inch to avoid ruining clothes or banging legs on it, which caused me to notice 75673. Because of the width of the vehicle, the 60inch wide cargo carriers seem questionable due to backup sensors, tail lights being covered, etc. I plan to load about 125 lbs of things on it, and the 48 - 50inch wide aluminum cargo carriers should be good enough. Preferably it should have a curved 2inch receiver tube to raise it up 5 - 6, away from the exhaust to prevent damage or I may need to consider fabricating a heat shield for the carrier, although that still leaves me wondering what Id do with the tarp that Id strap down over the carrier. Question: Because the Draw Tite 75673 is recessed more than the other hitch options, will any of the cargo carriers you offer risk rubbing the bumper? Will there still be enough room between the carrier and rear bumper to strap things down and still not have damage to the rear bumper? Im not a fan of hitch extenders because they reduce the weight rating.

While the Draw Tite hitch part # 75673 is recessed a few inches behind the rear bumper (5-1/2 inches to be exact) it wouldn't be recessed to the point a cargo carrier wouldn't fit. Also worth noting (see second picture) is that your exhaust exits below the rear bumper and is directed down so it wouldn't directly hit the cargo carrier or it's contents to heat it up to an excessive extent.

For a 48 inch wide cargo carrier that has some rise built into the shank we have the Reese part # 6502 which has enough clearance to fold up as well. Straps would easily fit on this carrier without interference as well. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

The aluminum carriers we carry do not have rises built into the shanks though but the Curt part # C18100 would be a great option that would fit and clear bumper as well.
