Troubleshooting Install of Brake Controller Where Stoplights are Illuminated All the Time
Question:
I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD, I installed a Tekonsha 90195 P3 controller and the 3031 OEM harness. My brake lights have stayed on for 2 hours as well as the unit. What is wrong

Expert Reply:
Did you use the install harness part # 3031-S which requires connecting the harness to the brake controller, or did you use the # 3031-P which connects from the back of the controller to the port under your truck's dash?
It sounds like you have a short between some of the brake controller wires which I suspect is between the black and red wires as this would put voltage from the battery onto the stoplight circuit switch and might activate the brake lights.
