Troubleshooting Dim Screen of Prodigy Brake Controller Install in 2019 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I saw your response. I have 12vdc on ground and 12v. ( wht and blk wires) I also have 12vdc on the blk and blue wire with the brake off and 12vdc on the blue and white with thebrake pressed. Is that normal? I meant 12vdc between blk and red with brake off and wht and red with brake on

The brake controller install harness part # 3064-P is the correct install harness for the Silverado 1500 models but for the 2500/3500 models you'd instead need the part # 3016. Since the two connectors are different I'd assume you have a 1500 model but wanted to mention that just in case.

Unlike previous generations of Chevy trucks yours should not require any underhood connections being made. It sounds like your controller has an internal problem based on the display not being fully lit. That would indicate to me that it has to be getting power. But you could use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to make sure the black wire circuit has power and also double check to make sure the white wire is grounded as well. If that checks out the issue is definitely that the controller has an internal problem and needs replacing.

If you have voltage on the ground circuit that is definitely a sign the controller is fried. There never should be voltage on the white wire.
