Comparing Curt and etrailer.com Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Honda Pilot
Question:
What are the primary differences between part C13146 and E99840? The rim of my tire appears to measure 18 inches or a little over, maybe 18.5 inches.

The Curt Trailer Hitch # C13146 and the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch # e98840 are identical in their design and measurements with the only difference being the Curt has a gloss black powder coat finish whereas the etrailer.com has a matte black powder coat finish. The matte black will do a better job at hiding scratches and dings from road debris so I recommend ours over the Curt option.
With that being said, these trailer hitches can only fit with an 18" or smaller spare tire. If yours is over 18" at all (even 18.5") then you'll need to store the spare tire elsewhere like in your rear hatch area. Some people choose to mount the spare tire on the roof with a roof rack and basket so if you'd like to explore this idea let me know and I can make some recommendations for you. I do recommend making sure you are measuring just the wheel and not the tire. Some people will measure both but the measurement mentioned in the fitguide is for just the wheel.
I have attached installation videos of the Curt and etrailer.com trailer hitches on a '17 Honda Pilot as well as some pictures to demonstrate what it looks like and the written instructions you can reference.
