Hitch Pin Options for the Hidden Hitch Hitch Extender on a 2009 Ford F-350
Question:
I am looking for a 18inch extension for my factory 2x2inch hitch, which is mounted on a 09 Ford F350. The HE18 is designed to work with a J hook. My question is this, can the HE18 extension be used with a conventional hitch pin, or must the J hook be used?

Expert Reply:
The Hidden Hitch Hitch Extender, # HE18, was designed to be compatible with a J-pin as another option for an anti-rattle device. A conventional hitch pin like part # PC3 can also be used with this hitch extender.
Keep in mind that any time you use a hitch extender the weight capacity of your trailer hitch and vehicle are reduced by 50 percent. Anything that is loaded behind the rear axle on your 2009 Ford F-350 will also factor into the tongue weight that is being applied.
