Can B&W Offset Ball be Used with Demco Recon on 2014 Ram 3500 with Short Bed
Question:
Hello, I have a BandW turnover ball hitch in a Ram 3500 Mega Cab 6.5 foot box. I would like to use the Demco Recon 5th wheel hitch. If clearance is an issue, can I use the goose ball extender? Thank you,

I really do like the Demco Recon # DM8550045 because of how light it is and the very secure connections it gives you but unfortunately you wouldn't be able to use the 4" Offset Ball # BWGNXA4085 for more clearance with the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1314 on your 2014 Ram 3500 with the 6-1/2' bed. This is due to the gap underneath the offset. I reached out to my contact at Demco who said that the hitch ball needs to sit flush with the truck bed for it to work properly.
For your application I recommend either using the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3400 which fits directly into the gooseneck hitch receiver or the Rail Adapter # DM6140 with the Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch # C16541. The Demco Recon does weigh less than either of these options but it won't supply you with enough turning clearance.
