What Direction Can Folding Fulton Trailer Tongue Hinge Fold

Could the coupler be installed so it would fold up rather than to the side?

I believe I have a solution for you, but the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit, # FHDPB230101, was designed to be mounted so that the tongue would fold to the side. Mounting the hinge kit to where the tongue would fold up provides no lateral stability and should not be used in this way according to Fulton.

It sounds like your trailer frame is 3 inches wide and 2 inches tall. What you could use instead would be the 3 inch by 3 inch hinge kit part # FHDPB330301 and then use a spacer on your trailer frame so that it would fit the hinge. You would need to use a 1 inch spacer and have it welded to the frame by a qualified welder.
