Will the Trunk Open on a 2007 Chevrolet Impala With a Trunk Mounted Bike Carrier

Question:

Can the trunk be opened for use with the bike rack installed or must it be removed?

You would not want to open the trunk while a trunk mounted bike rack is installed on your 2007 Chevrolet Impala because it could cause damage to the vehicle.

If you would like to have access to your trunk without having to remove the bike rack every time, then I would recommend adding a hitch and hitch mounted bike rack. For your vehicle, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class II Hitch, # 36407. There will be no contact between your vehicle and a hitch mounted bike rack and you will be able to access the trunk without removing the bike rack every time.

We have a wide variety of hitch mounted bike racks that would work with a trailer hitch on your vehicle. One of our most popular bike racks is the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack, # TH9058. This bike rack will tilt away from your vehicle allowing access to your trunk and is light weight. I have attached a link to all of our hitch mounted bike carriers for you to check out.

Another advantage to adding a hitch to your vehicle is having the ability to tow a small trailer if the situation arose. This hitch already comes with a ball mount so I have listed a few other items below that you will need to complete your towing set up.

Wiring Harness # 118417
Ball mount # 36061
2 Inch Ball # 19258
1-7/8 Inch Ball # 19256
