Question:
I have a 2010 ford escape with a factory installed towing package with 3500 pound rating. What parts do I need to add trailer brakes. It has a 4 prong flat plug at the rear for lights from the factory. Thanks

To wire an electric brake controller, like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, to your 2010 Ford Escape, you will need to use the Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. This kit will include all the parts necessary to convert a 4-Way flat connector on your vehicle to a 7-Way and 4-Way connector for use with an electric trailer brake controller in your vehicle.
I am including links to a couple of FAQ articles on installing a brake controller from scratch, along with a video showing the installation of an # ETBC7 kit on a Ford Explorer. The vehicle is different but the installation of the # ETBC7 kit is the same.
I am also including a link to the installation instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller.
