Pin Comes Out Of Shank On BlackHawk 2 Tow Bar While In Stored Position
Question:
Recently, my Blackhawk 2 popped out of the shank clasp while in the folded position. My cover was ruined and one of the swivel ears was ground down on the highway asphalt. I’ve located a new cover on your site but I’m having trouble locating a new swivel ear. The tow bar pin is just not firmly fitting into the shank clasp anymore when it’s folded up and I’m concerned the tow bar is going to pop out again and do more damage when it hits the road surface again. Is the an adjustment or tightening I need to do? Also, is the swivel ear for the Falcon the same swivel ear used on the BlackHawk 2?

Expert Reply:
That is a very scary situation and I am glad you are okay! The replacement swivel ear or collar is part # RM-9200-8 for the BlackHawk 2 All Terrain tow bar part # RM-422 so it would not be the same as the Falcon. It sounds like to me that the hitch pin hole in the hitch on the motorhome has elongated over time. This can sometimes happen when the hitch is older. I recommend to stop using the standard pin and clip and use a locking hitch pin part # C23519 so the pin will stop popping out of the shank.
